Many DPT students are studying online while working in the field on a traineeship. The course is spread over a year and students have to find time to fit in the study, work and have a life! Here are 5 tips to help keep sane and study from home.

Set a routine – A year sounds like a long time to do 15 units but months can go by while life gets in the way of study. Set a routine of x amount of hours per week or a unit a week.

Don’t leave it till Sunday night or whatever day is your Sunday. (shiftwork bends time and space lol) Put your student hat on - remember when you are at your desk you are a student.

Find the best time of day for you to study and stick to it. Also Set a timer and study in small chunks – 30 -60 minutes at a time. After each chunk reward yourself. After a big session give yourself a big reward.

Get the urge not the guilts– when you get the urge to study go for it before it lingers too long and turns into guilt. Being motivated maybe fleeting so jump up, cancel everything, lock yourself away, turn of the phone and go go go.

Ask! - Don’t let the unit assessment questions pile up. If you have any questions email your trainer ASAP. We are here to help you so you can email them anytime
