Meet the trainer - Adele Wright

Adele is the newest trainer on the DPT team and is located in Brisbane... so please welcome Adele.

How long have you been a trainer/ assessor?

I have been working as a trainer with DPT since New year. Whilst I haven’t been in training for a long time, I am very excited and determined to succeed in this position.

What is your aged care/disability work background?

I have been working within the aged care sector for 20 plus years, both in facilities and also in the community. There I was E.E.N then an AIN. I helped trained students from uni and also new staff, I also was the manual handling facilitator. Another of my roles was incontinent assessor/order/provider to clients.

What three things do you enjoy about being a trainer/assessor?

I enjoy training and assessment as I enjoy helping people to achieve their need to further their education and move forward. I also like organisation and collaboration of information. Meeting interesting people is another joy of being a trainer.

This is an exciting and new career for me and  I look forward to learning more.

What are the three challenges of being a trainer/assessor?

I see that you need to keep your skills up to date so that you can help with training. Another challenge is a full workload. I enjoy being busy so time management is the third challenge.

What are three tips for students to get through their chosen course?

  • gather all evidence before proceeding
  • understand the course requirements
  • have you enough time?

What do you enjoy doing outside work?

I enjoy researching about maintaining a healthy body, by eating correctly. Also researching about the harm food does to you. I am a vegetarian, who is also gluten and lactose intolerant, so I enjoy changing recipes to suit. I have a lot of recipes that I have been getting together to make a book…one day. I also like yoga, Pilates and meditation.
