The CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support - Disability Specialisation reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.

Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs.  Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.                               

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 145 hours of vocational placement.

1) Classroom based training:
classroom attendance – “Face to Face” - training with industry qualified trainers. This is of great assistance for those who wish to build up confidence, learn from trainers experienced in the industry and brush up their studying skills. We offer face to face learning two days per week for 12 weeks, you can select Group A, held on Monday & Tuesdays or Group B, Held Thursdays & Fridays with additional weekly trainer support sessions held each Wednesday.

Additional self-directed learning options are provided to enhance your learning experience and share your knowledge with your class peers and trainer each week.

1) Online based training:
As part of this course four subjects will be facilitated via our online student portal.

2) On the job training - volunteer hours:

Practical workplace training through a Vocational Placement is a strong focus of our course program. This practical approach to learning will prepare our students to ease into the145 hours of on the job training required to gain the qualification. DP Training will arrange a vocational placement with a leading Health Care Provider with who our RTO holds a current agreement.

Our Training Organisation will support students to organise the vocational placement - work experience with an accredited care provider. It can be an aged care facility, health care, disability or community based service provider where direct care is provided.

Vocational placement is structured workplace learning; a vocational placement student log book is developed to support you to meet the requirements of all tasks to be completed during your placement. These tasks support you to prepare for the workforce. Vocational Placement is an important part of the program that has been designed for students to apply the theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom to a practical level in a workplace environment.

Many students have be offered work by their work experience host before the completion of their training, for others - the experience gained supports their applications for equivalent positions in the industry.

Upon completion of the Certificate III Qualifications, your pathway can continue to a Certificate IV level qualification, we are able to support you throughout your chosen career path.

COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The target learner is typically an adult wanting to commence working in the Disability ot Community Care Industry.

The target learners and entry requirements for this course must:

  • be over 15 years of age, whom have finished or left secondary school
  • undertake a National Police Check without a notable offence being listed
  • undertake a volunteer blue card application
  • undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Skills Indicator Questionnaire and be able to satisfactorily meet the LLN requirements
  • have technological skills to undertake computer/online work and have
  • access to a computer and software with the following minimum specifications
  1. Microsoft Windows XP, or later, or Mac OS X or above
  2. Microsoft Office or equivalent
  3. Adobe Acrobat Reader
  4. Adobe Flash Player
  5. Up to date internet browser

ENROLMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Photo Identification (Drivers Licence or Passport)
  • All Completed forms from the enrolment pack
  • Unique Student Identification Number (USI)
  • National Police Check Certificate (Required before Vocational Placement can commence). (DP Training can process an application on your behalf - additional fee charged for the police check $49.90)
  • A Genuine interest in the Community Services, Health and Disability Sectors
  • Completed LLN document, the need to read, write and communicate in English to a level required to perform the job.
  • Transport to and from Vocational Placement Host Facility/Organisation
  • Ability to complete 145hours as Vocational Placement from 7.00am

# To receive an award for this qualification Students are required to complete all units listed above as competent and meet the requirements of the 145 hours of vocational placement within a period of 12 months.

Program Fee: $2150, payable by $250 deposit upon enrolment with balance due within 7 days from course commencement

The Certificate 3 Guarantee supports eligible individuals to complete their first post-school certificate III qualification. It also supports school students to access training and Queensland's Year 12 graduates to transition to employment by providing free training in high priority qualifications.
