The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care - childcare course is for those wishing to work with children in a childcare centre or similar environment. Childcare workers (called Educators) conduct activities using play based learning while providing care to ensure the health and well-being of each child. Depending on the setting, workers may work under direct supervision or autonomously.A heavy emphasis is placed on ensuring carers understand the systems and strategies used to ensure the safety of children under their care.

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of early childhood education settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They support the implementation of an approved learning framework, and support children’s wellbeing, learning and development.

 

The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care addresses the skills and knowledge required to provide care for individuals and groups of children, and to plan activities facilitating their leisure and play, enabling them to achieve their developmental outcomes.This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of early childhood education settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. Students will learn to support the implementation of an approved learning framework, and support children’s wellbeing, learning and development. Depending on the setting, educators may work under direct supervision or autonomously in a range of child care facilities such as full day care centres, occasional care facilities, crèches and early learning centres as an Early Childhood Educator.Students will gain the benefit of experience throughout their course with a vocational work placement component (a minimum of 120 hours) that

  • Strengthens experience of the workplace to support future expectations of performance in the workforce.
  • Develop practical skills and the application of knowledge within the workplace to promote stronger embedding of learning.
  • Provides exposure to real workplace situations and circumstances which cannot be replicated in a learning environment or through simulation

 

In order to gain the certificate, 18 units must be completed for this qualification, 15 compulsory units and 3 elective units.

Vocational Placement

A minimum of 120 hours work placement is required as part of this Community Services course, and we can assist you in arranging this. During your vocational placement, you will perform tasks under the observation of our Assessor or another suitable supervisor to ensure that you are meeting the competencies required by the industry.

You will also be required to undergo a criminal record check, a standard requirement for work in the Industry in Australia. We can arrange this on your behalf for an additional fee
