Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of workers who are middle managers or managers across a range of
community sector organisations. These people work independently and report to executive management,
directors or boards of management. They undertake a range of functions requiring the application of
knowledge and skills to achieve results in line with the organisation’s goals and strategic directions.


At this level, workers have responsibility for planning and monitoring service delivery, recruitment and performance management of other paid or unpaid workers, managing risk and contributing to continuous improvement within the scope of their specific role. This may include management of a specific programs or projects, or broader management of a community-based organisation, early childhood education service, not-for-profit organisation or community centre.


DP Training’s clients are dominantly existing workers/supervisors/managers who have at least 12 months experience across a number of industry sectors including childcare and community services and the health industry and whom are seeking higher level skills and knowledge to support their job role.

Who is this course for

  • This qualification supports the role of workers who are middle managers or managers across a range of community sector organisations
  • This qualification is suitable for individuals wanting to develop higher level skills with an interest in seeking a managerial position within community services that support individuals through the provision of person-centred services and who are looking to secure roles in the Community Services and Childcare sectors
  • Potential Learners will be individuals of all backgrounds, non-specific gender and all age groups
  • DP has multiple campuses across Queensland and additional campuses in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia + strong industry links, therefore students are likely to be existing workers who are in the position to commit to study and work and/or industry placement hours in a quest to secure higher level employment
  • All students will be screened for course eligibility including LLN testing. Students from diverse backgrounds who may be identified as potentially experiencing LLN difficulties will be supported throughout their journey and/or referred to specialist LLN programs to upskill

Course Delivery

This course is delivered via DP Learnign@Home model, offering the opportunity to study your way

  • Training Materials offered using electronic based delivery,
  • Trainers/Assessors being available to support you through email and/or telephone contact.

RPL

  • Any person currently working in the industry has the opportunity to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment only pathway, If you consider yourself to already have the knowledge and skills for the qualification.
  • You will be required to successfully demonstrate that you have acquired the required knowledge and skills specified in the training package through formal, non-formal and informal learning. To demonstrate your knowledge and skills assessed via the RPL process, please take our skill assessment below and select RPL on your enrolment form.

Course Entry Requirements

The target learners and entry requirements for this course must:

  • be over 18 years of age, and no longer attending secondary school
  • undertake Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Skills Indicator assessment questionnaire
  • ability to undertake vocational placement, which includes manual handling tasks
  • have technological skills to undertake computer/online work and have access to a computer and software with the following minimum specifications
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader/Adobe Flash Player and up to date internet browser

Fees & Funding

Fee For Service (not eligible for government funding)

  • A Full Fee paying student – total course fee $4250

To commence a $250 deposit is required prior to commencing training and assessment, with weekly, fortnightly and monthly payment plans to pay the remaining fees.

Queensland Government Funding
Higher Level Skills Funding, a Queensland Government Initiative

The Higher Level Skills Program aims to assist individuals to gain the higher level skills required to secure employment or career advancement in a priority industry, or to transition to university.

DP Training is able to offer Queensland Government funding to eligible students, under the Higher Level skills Program. If a person is eligible for funding under Higher Level skills Program, the Queensland Government will subsidise the costs of their accredited training, although a student co-contribution fee will be required.

Call DP Training to check if you meet the eligibility criteria, the student co-contribution fee can be as little as $49 for a concession card holder or $69 for non-concession enrolment. 

*Student must be an Existing Worker in the Community Services and Health industry and may already
hold a Certificate IV or higher level qualification not funded through the Higher Level Skills program
