CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. It is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge to gain employment in ageing, or disability support services.
During this course, students will develop the skills and knowledge to work one-on-one with clients to maximise and maintain independence and well-being. Training and assessment will ensure learners are able to work legally and ethically with a diverse range of people within the scope of practice for a support worker. Applying a holistic care approach and working healthily and safely in a direct care environment are key focuses throughout training and assessment of the qualification

Our Brisbane Campus is located at 162 Abbotsford Road Bowen Hills, Queensland 4006. The campus can easily be accessed via both car and public transport. There is both free street parking, and secure paid parking available near-by the campus. Our campus is conveniently located less than 10 minutes’ walk from the Bowen Hills train station and less than 5 minutes from several bus stops, making this campus very accessible.
The facilities at our campus were specially designed with quality training in mind, with multiple specialised training rooms available, as well as a practical workplace simulation Room. This simulation room is so you can practise and learn specialised skills and techniques in a safe environment before you go to your vocational placement in a real workplace.
For your convenience, our campus also has kitchen facilities, so you are welcome to bring your own refreshments, alternatively there are also several local cafés within walking distance that can be accessed.

Applicants must have completed year 12 schooling (or equivalent). Applicants should be a minimum of 17 years of age at the time of application and must be 18 years of age at the commencement of the course. Students must also be able to obtain several security clearance checks.

Test scores for both C1 Advanced paper-based and computer-based tests, taken before 12 February 2024, within the specified validity period are still accepted.

Vocational Placement
Vocational Placement
DP Training has industry partnerships with a number of highly regarded aged care, Disability, Community Service Providers to support students undertaking 120 hours of mandatory vocational placement. Students must demonstrate the skills and knowledge learned in the classroom and through practical simulations on the workplace.
To be eligible to undertake a vocational placement, you must be able to engage in all practical requirements of your course, including all aspects of Manual Handling.You will need to complete several security checks and comply with any vaccination requirements. This may include, but is not limited to:
- A National Police Check or Statutory Declaration
- Fully vaccinated against Covid-19 with a vaccine recognised by Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration
- Have a current flu vaccination
- NDIS workers screening check
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
