Course Description

This skill set reflects the skill requirements for supporting people with disability. It provides a set of skills to support the induction of new workers or workers who are employed in the community services industry into a variety of roles supporting people with disability. This skill set is for workers entering the disability sector.

These units provide credit towards a range of qualifications, including the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support.

This course is delivered via blended model which includes:

  • Online delivery for 5 units of competency
  • Self-paced (up to 6 months to complete)
  • Trainers/Assessors being available Monday – Friday between 8:30am – 4:30pm through email and/or telephone
  • Upon completion of theory, a 4-hour practical simulation at one of our training venues and/or workplace demonstration of skills attained
  • Enrol anytime, start anytime!

DP Training accepts and provides credit transfers to learners who have authenticated and verified VET transcripts and AQF certification documentation issued by another Registered Training Organisation.

This skill set is for workers entering the disability sector who wish to develop skills in supporting people with a Disability.

In addition, the target learner must:

  • be over 15 years of age, who have finished or left secondary school
  • undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Skills Indicator assessment questionnaire
  • have technological skills to undertake computer/online work and have
  • access to a computer and software with the following minimum specifications
  • Microsoft Windows XP, or later, or Mac OS X or above; Microsoft Office or equivalent and Adobe Acrobat Reader/Adobe Flash Player and up to date internet browser

Please be advised the following documents will be required to be submitted with your enrolment:

  • Proof of ID: Colour copy of Passport or Driver’s Licence.
  • Unique Student Identification Number (USI)
  • Colour copy of Certificates and Statement Results for any previously attained or partially completed qualifications completed in or recognised in Australia.

Fee for Service

  • A full fee paying student – total course fee $1200

A $250 deposit is required prior to commencing training and assessment, with weekly, fortnightly and monthly payment plans to pay the remaining fees.

In order to gain the Skill Set, 5 units of competency must be completed for this qualification.
